Mishy asked: One of the main reasons I became vegan was because of the book “The China Study,” and because of my family’s terrible history of heart disease. Our livers just make too much cholesterol on their own, etc. etc. I have scrawny 10 year old cousins with astronomical cholesterol etc…..
So I just was curious if anyone out there knew pretty strict vegans who were unlucky enough to “still” get cancer and/or heart disease that would cause heart attacks, angina, etc.
Thanks!!! Been vegan 95% of the time since Nov 06 and I love it! I’m Punjabi, which helps, because the ability to eat really spicy Punjabi, Indian, Pakistani, and Thai food makes you never ever ever miss all that meat, dairy, etc.! I love it and feel great!

watercolourheart asked: I am a woman in my early 30’s & I have been very healthy all my life.Recently, I have begun to have sharp stabbing pains & pressure in the center of my chest. It is sometimes difficult to breathe & slightest activity increases the pain, for example, just bending over to put on my shoes. When I first wake up in the morning I am often light headed & generally very tired & weak. The pain was so bad today that I had to go to the ER.The doctor ran a series of tests (including an EKG, TB X-ray, etc.) & everything checked out fine.I was discharged the suggestion that maybe the pain was from muscular/tissue strain in the center of my chest & given a prescription for pain (Coedine).
Has anyone ever had similar problems but found out the exact cause, or does anyone have any ideas of what the problem might be? I have never been one to complain about pain, but this really hurts & seems to be more than just muscular/tissue strain. No history of heart disease in my family, I am not on any meds.
